How to update many Etsy listings at once

How to update titles, tags and other details on many Etsy listings at once, using Etsy's bulk tools and a careful test-and-compare process.

You can update many Etsy listings at once from the Listings page in Shop Manager: select the listings, then use the editing options to change things like titles, tags or prices for all of them. To do it safely, plan the change, try it on a small batch first, keep a backup of the old text, and compare stats after 2–4 weeks before rolling it out.

Etsy's own bulk tools

In Shop Manager, open Listings, tick the boxes next to the listings you want to change, and open the editing options. Depending on the view and the current version of Etsy, you can make changes such as:

  • Adding words to the start or end of titles, or finding and replacing text in titles.
  • Adding or removing tags across the selected listings.
  • Changing prices, sections or other shared settings.
  • Renewing, deactivating or deleting listings.

The exact options can change, so check what your Shop Manager offers. Some changes, like rewriting each title individually, still need you to edit listings one by one.

Why be careful

A bulk edit changes many listings in seconds, which is great when it helps and painful when it does not. Search visibility can shift after changes to titles and tags, and a typo copied to 200 listings takes a while to undo. A simple process avoids most problems.

A safer process

  • Plan: write down exactly what you will change and why, for example adding “printable wall art” to titles that lack it.
  • Back up: copy the current titles, tags and descriptions into a spreadsheet before you change anything. You can download a CSV of your listings from Etsy's shop settings as a starting point.
  • Test on a small batch: change 10–20 similar listings first.
  • Wait and compare: after 2–4 weeks, compare views, visits and orders for the changed listings with the same period before, and with similar listings you did not change.
  • Roll out or roll back: if the results look better or neutral, apply the change to more listings. If they look worse, restore the old text from your backup.

Keep in mind that sales naturally rise and fall with seasons, so compare like with like where you can.

Seasonal updates

Bulk edits are useful for seasonal changes. Before autumn or the holidays, you might add seasonal phrases such as “Christmas gift” or “autumn decor” to relevant titles and tags, then remove them when the season ends. Make these changes early, since buyers start searching weeks before the date. Keep a note of what you added so you can take it out cleanly afterwards.
